Editorial Policy
Our mission is to help anyone, Malaysian or visitor, understand Malaysia’s food, from famous dishes to little-known regional ones. These are the standards we follow.
Every kitchen, every state
We cover Malay, Chinese, Indian, Peranakan, Kadazan-Dusun, Iban and other food traditions with equal respect, and we include lesser-known regional dishes, not only the famous ones.
How we choose restaurants
- Restaurants are chosen for how well they represent a dish, using local recommendations, long-running reputation and public reviews.
- No restaurant pays to be included in or to be ranked in our editorial guides.
- Ratings we quote come from public sources such as Google and always show the date they were recorded.
How we use AI tools
Some guides are researched, drafted or translated with the help of AI tools. The Go Makan team edits this work, checks names, addresses and facts, and is responsible for everything we publish.

Corrections
If a restaurant has closed, moved or changed, or if we got something wrong, email info@go-makan.com with the subject "Correction". We review every report and update the guide, noting significant changes.
